Snagpad Support
Snagpad records building defects on site: as many photographs per defect as it
takes, annotated on the spot, and a PDF report you can actually email.
Common questions
- Does it work without a signal?
-
Yes — that is the point. Everything is stored on the device. Recording defects,
annotating photographs and generating the PDF all work in a basement with no
reception. Syncing happens later, when there is a connection.
- How many photographs can I attach to one defect?
-
As many as you need. Take the wide shot, the close-up and the detail; they all
appear in the report.
- My report is too big to email.
-
Choose Compact when exporting. It roughly halves the file size
with no visible loss at the size photographs are printed. A fifty-defect report
with three photographs each comes to about 7.5 MB as standard, under 4 MB
compact.
- Do my annotations become permanent?
-
No. Drawings are stored separately from the photograph and stay editable. They
are only merged into the image when the PDF is produced, so the original is
never altered.
- Does it sync between my iPhone and iPad?
-
Yes, through your own private iCloud account, provided both devices are signed
in with the same Apple Account. Nothing passes through our servers — we do not
have any.
- Can a subcontractor close defects themselves?
-
Not yet. Today you record the defect, return to site and close it yourself with
a resolution photograph. Shared projects are what we are building next.
- Will my work be lost if something goes wrong?
-
If iCloud is unavailable for any reason, Snagpad falls back to working entirely
on the device rather than refusing to open. You keep working; syncing resumes
on its own.
